Mixing Things Up

Last night, I attended a party. This party had two DJs, one on the ground floor and one in the basement. The ground floor DJ, known as DJ Sutl, played house while the basement DJ played 90s pop. DJ Sutl is amazing. I need say no more, but I'm going to anyway. Already a techno fan, I was enthralled by the excellent mixing and modding that made the music come alive. One song, "Addicted to Bass" was featured on the album Techno Party Vol. I that was produced several years ago. I had not heard it since, but DJ Sutl's mix was fantastic.

While at the party, I had the opportunity to chat with DJ Sutl and he provided me with a few tips for the beginning DJ. Well, one tip really- practice. As such, I intend to obtain a beginning setup at some point this summer (a turntable, a mixing station, and maybe a drum machine) to begin mixing my own music. DJs typically come in two stripes- house DJs mix and mash up while scratch DJs scratch vinyl records to create the characteristic wiki sound. Sir Mix-A-Lot is one of the more famous scratchers, well known for his song "Baby Got Back". My personal preference is for house, which I find more interesting than scratching. I also hope to record and digitize some of my mixing, which I may or may not be able to post here, depending on legality (I'm in the business of fun, not lawsuits).

Fan Fiction

So, I have recently become interested in fan fics. In particular, I have become interested in Harry Potter fan fics. A number of influential people in my life read HPFF and adore it, so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm currently reading The Shoebox Project and I actually quite like it. It is quality fan fiction (for once!). In addition, I have actually begun to write my own. I don't like to show a work until it is finished so it may be some time until it is posted here (if I ever post it here). I'm also hoping to start a collaborative project with a few other friends on Blogger. We'll just have to see what happens...

Welcome (Again) to Creative Anomaly!

So, after a great deal of time without actually posting anything to this blog, I have undergone a slight redesign process. This is no longer just a webcomic; here I shall post the fruits of my creative impulses, be they artwork of all kinds, writing (creative or otherwise), or really terrible jokes I made up on the way back from the library. And maybe, just maybe, I'll get around to creating a real webcomic here.

Welcome to Creative Anomaly!

My aim is to make this into a site for a webcomic I'm working on, which will be called.........(drumroll please).......Creative Anomaly! A total surprise, to be sure. I'll be updating it now and again as it progresses. Since this is really just in the planning phase I'll post the occasional concept sketches and whatnot as I get some idea of what I'm doing. Any way, enjoy!
